Top 5
1. Drew Brees- Brees is the top Quarter Back on just about everybody’s board and it’s no different here. Last year he threw for 5069 yards and came 39 yards short of breaking Dan Marino’s all-time record. He threw for 34 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. I see no reason why he can’t put up even better numbers this year. Most of the Saints starters from last year are returning and they have one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. Marques Colston will be his primary target and will help him a lot. He will also be able to connect with wide receiver Devery Henderson, Lance Moore, and tight end Jeremy Shockey. Shockey will be a great Red-Zone target and Henderson will be a very big deep threat down the field. Brees is ranked at number nine on my Top 200 but he could drop or move up a couple slots depending on what kind of team you want. No matter where you pick him he will be a stud for your fantasy team. I predict that Brees will throw for 4,967 yards and 37 touchdowns. Drew will have a very good season and I think he will be the MVP of the NFL.
2. Tom Brady- In 2007 Tom Brady was unbelievable; anybody who had him on their team went far in their leagues. But in 2008 Brady went down in week one. He tore his ACL and his MCL before his season even began. Before the injury, He was of to a strong start going 7-11 and passing for 76 yards. This year Tom will be back 100%. If he wasn’t going to be 100% then the Patriots wouldn’t have traded Matt Cassel to Chiefs. I think Brady will get back to his old rhythm with Randy Moss and Wes Welker. I also think the addition of Joey Galloway was very good for Tom because it gives him even more of a deep threat. Galloway has explosive speed and can blow past the secondary and then Tom can deliver him a great pass. Tom Brady will not change one bit and I predict he will throw for 4,316 yards and 35 touchdowns. He is ranked 15th on my Top 200 he should go right around the second round.
3. Peyton Manning- Peyton Manning is usually the top Quarter Back in fantasy football but why did he drop down to number 3? Because he lost some key targets the offseason. The biggest one is Marvin Harrison. There is no more “Manning to Harrison” and that was a big part of Manning’s game. Now Reggie Wayne is the main receiver in Indianapolis and Anthony Gonzalez really needs to step up this year for Peyton to be exceptional for yet another year. I’m not saying that it would be bad to pick Manning, I’m just saying don’t set the bar where you set it about 3 years ago. He is number 20 in my Top 200 and he will perform just at about that level. I think he will throw for 4,292 yards and 33 touchdowns. Don’t forget that Manning won MVP last year. He is definitely worth drafting because he won’t hurt you down the stretch and he will make smart decisions. He will definitely be a stud for your team.
4. Kurt Warner- Before the 2008 season Kurt Warner wasn’t even the starter, that job belonged to Matt Leinert. But after Kurt took the starting job from Matt, he never looked back. He went on to throw for 4,582 yards and 30 touchdowns and of his 598 passing attempts, only 14 were intercepted. Sure it helps to have arguably the league’s best wide receiver and a stud number 2 Wide-out in Anquan Boldin, but Kurt is a very smart passer and he still knows how to throw the football. It will be interesting to see what happens to Boldin because if he leaves then Warner’s stock could drop a lot but if he stays it could rise. I have Kurt Warner as number 33 on my Top 200 but it could change depending on what happens to Boldin. I predict that Warner will throw 27 touchdowns and 4,034 yards.
5. Philip Rivers- Rivers had an outstanding season last year. It was much needed because L.T. didn’t perform great while he played. Most of the time he was hurt. Rivers stepped up and did a great job last year throwing for 4,009 yards and 34 touchdowns while only throwing 11 interceptions. He was tied for the league lead with Drew Brees in touchdowns. His number 1 target is Antonio Gates who also battled injuries for some of last year. Rivers also loves to throw to his number 1 receiver, Vincent Jackson, who caught for 1,098 yards and 7 touchdowns last year. His number 2 receiver is Chris Chambers who is very tall and can jump very high. Rivers is ranked at number 39 on my Top 200 but he could very well be picked a couple slots higher if he will still perform at the level he did last year. I think Philip Rivers will throw for 3,897 yards and 29 touchdowns. He would be a very valuable player to get in rounds 4 or 5.
